How to style Jeans for your Boudoir Photoshoot

This post is an ode to the wonderful timeless fabric, Denim. I love a jeans-themed photoshoot for the gorgeous texture and contrast, the editorial style, and the simplicity. One of my favorite outfit secrets for a unique photoshoot is to think outside the traditional lingerie box, and shop your closet for items you might already have, like your favorite pair of jeans!

The beautiful thing about denim is its timeless look, and amazing texture when photographed.

Here are some tips for incorporating denim into your photoshoot:

1 - The Fit

It’s important to consider the vibe and fit you want. Do you want something cool and slouchy, or sexy and fitted? Make sure you like how they look from all angles, and don’t pinch you too much or cut in weird. Do you want a high waisted pair, or something low cut? Will you be unbuttoning them, or leaving them zipped? Maybe you want underwear sticking out from the top, or only when you unzip do you get a peek. Maybe sure you wear underwear you don’t mind seeing!

2 - Color, Wash, & Distressing

The color of your jeans will add a lot of interest to your images, especially in the tonal variation of the black and white versions. Do you go for a bright white for a crisp clean look, black for something more deep and edgy, or classic blue?

The texture of the denim is everything, maybe you want lots of interest and go super distressed, or maybe you want to stay more clean and classic with a non-distressed pair.

3 - Shorts, Jackets, Overalls

Denim doesn’t have to mean jeans! You can bring in your favorite denim jacket and throw it over any of your other outfits for a bit of edgy texture. Shorts can be really fun to bring in too, you get to see more leg and sometimes it makes the booty look even better than jeans (now is your chance to wear those daisy dukes you don’t want to wear in public!)

Other cuts like overalls can be super fun to play with as well, don’t be afraid to get creative!

4 - What to pair with your denim

Maybe you keep it simple and wear only jeans, using your arms to cover when you want, or maybe you add some lacy lingerie underneath to have a contrast of soft and rugged, or maybe you go more clean with a sporty set of underwear that’s cotton and elastic. Whatever you choose, just make sure it fits you nicely and works with the overall aesthetic you’re going for.

Don’t forget accessories! You can absolutely go minimalist and keep it simple, or add some heels, boots, a sweater, or some jewelry to make it your own. Your makeup could be barely there and natural or retro glam, have fun and keep true to your personality!

I hope you had fun learning about how to style a denim themed photoshoot! If you’re feeling inspired to book your own and come play with some jeans, please reach out and book your session, I’d love to work with you!
